Please note that the front desk is located 1 block North at West Coast Motel on the Harbour (big sister to Whale’s Tail) – see address details on the left of the screen. Your hosts, Jeff and Brenda Mathieson and family will be at the front desk to greet you during the hours of 9 AM and 10 PM daily.
We are a great choice for anyone looking for a Ucluelet motel/hotel or a Tofino motel/hotel or even vacation rental accommodation. The Whale’s Tail Guest Suites are beautifully maintained, modern, private, clean, quiet and roomy vacation rentals that are pet and smoke free. (There is 1 pet-friendly unit at our sister-property – please ask). Best suited to those that would like a ‘home away from home feeling’ when they travel. Full condo style units with complete kitchens are provided with your choice of one, two and three bedroom suites. The Whale’s Tail is located in the ocean-front fishing village of Ucluelet, on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Centrally located in the downtown area on a quiet residential street. Walking distance to restaurants, stores, trails, beaches and the wild rugged West Coast. The motel is a 35 minute drive from Tofino,through Pacific Rim National Park/Long Beach. Long Beach is a 10-15 minute drive from Ucluelet and is located between the 2 towns of Ucluelet and Tofino.

We also have a 4 bedroom vacation house “Fisherman’s House” (deck with harbour view) available – if you have a larger group, please ask us about it! Also – “The Little Green Cabin on the Harbour”, cutest studio cabin with a queen bed and hide a bed right in front of the boat harbour. Large deck to watch the people and activities taking place at a working harbour. Beautiful! Did you know Ucluelet is home to 2 surf shops and schools? The Whale’s Tail is close to surfing beaches. The Long Beach unit of Pacific Rim National Park is approximately 10 minute drive away. Rent your gear/hire an instructor at – check out the surf shop links on our “Local Activities and Adventures” tab. Free after check out showers available for those that want one last surf before heading home. We also have a dry room available for surf boards and gear. Surfers enjoy our sauna facilities the most! Sauna, gym, pool, showers are located at our other business West Coast Fitness Center located 1 block away at West Coast Motel on the Harbour.
